FORM & FUNCTION
The relationship between form and function is a key element within architecture. The main question is whether a building's form should truthfully express its function, or be independent. This creative design process takes a look at this question by choosing a bridge as a prototype, selecting a movement/function to use as an analogy, and creating conceptual combinations of the two, selecting the best combination for the final design. The final design is a merger of the prototype and function. The prototype was transformed by removing cables and incorporating my movement into the design in order to turn this concept into a workable functional solution. The main goal of this project is to encourage the awareness of truth in the design process, while promoting the arbitrary aesthetic of functional beauty.
